No deep rough at all its very UN-Augusta  (Unless its just tight around the pines just for looks since you don't have any other option but sand.) first cut only.....but Augusta is mostly all fairway.

Second hole second shot to the far right pin is my favorite shot in fictional golf.....trying to hit the louis oooooooosthazien shoot between the front bunkers and catching the slope right so it flows alll the way over to that well guarded right sliver of green....can't be beat.  I would move that pin (personal preference I know).

Love the mounds on 8 awesome job....I would remove the last one on the left though the green slopes away to the back and left there which makes that back left pin so tough on Sundays.....your last mound makes a backstop for overcooked pitch shots.
I would make 8 reachable with two perfect shots and wind helping obviously.

AN143.4

Let me know if you like the changes to 2 and 8.

Changes in v.4

Grass, more grass has been removed.
Heavy rough on front nine moved back to Heavy treed areas.
Back of 4 fixed.
2 green was re-sculpted, Pin moved to right side (Do not miss left if you go for it in 2)
8 tee has been moved up 25 yards, Mounds fixed, and green re-sculpted. (Do not miss right of green if going for it in 2)

Wow... the course got a major overhaul with this rev.  I can't believe what a difference getting rid of the mountain panorama and moving the heavy rough back did to get closer to the look and ambiance of Augusta National!  I like the changes to 2 and 8.  The fairway for #9 seems to be too narrow.  I remember it bowing out a lot further on the outside portion of the dogleg.  The current fairways has a squiggly, meandering look to it that doesn't quite capture the way I recall that hole looking.  I think the biggest problem I'm having right now is accepting the tall spider grass and ferns as azaleas and dogwoods, they just don't capture the character of the course.  I like where you're going with the landscaping, tree placement and green contouring, but I don't have any suggestions for options in the Boreal theme for azaleas and dogwoods.

Well the theme has pink mushrooms? I have left them out, no matter what I do with them, they still look like pink mushrooms. I could put them all over and call it Augusta on Acid.

AN143.5

List of revisions is vast:

More grass has been mowed
Fairway edges have been smoothed with some completely re-done.
Green speed has been upped to med-fast ( Needed this to provide some needed roll out for well placed shots to feed to pin.
Fairways have been reduced to med-firm, this provides a little less bounce on the greens, see above.
Most greens have been re-sculpted, much more sloped area's, however small areas around holes have been provided with some forgiveness
All deep rough has been trimmed to deeper woods
11 has been completly re-done, re-sculpted to provide better views
12 tee has been moved left, more trees added, water and bunkers more in play.
16 has been re-sculpted, re-planted.
17 Fairway completely re-done
18 green has been re-sculpted.
Trees added and removed as appropriate.
Likely more, it took a while.

Still to be done:
Anything that pops up
Jungle in some areas needs some more thought. I do not like nothing, however I was thinking where the real McCoy has just pine straw, I will have nothing for now, till they release something I can use, where Augusta has flowers, dogwoods etc, I will plant something in its place till TGC gives me something to replace.

great idea steve.  I would give it a few minutes to REALLY publish the final course until we can get some pine straw.  For the jungle look, you can leave it or plant some other small bushes or something, its hard to say, but im sure something looks better than nothing, i tend to agree w/ that.

And i just did an aerial google maps of augusta, and yetlzman really nailed the fairway aspect.  Augusta has a ton of fairway, and a lot of it is connected!  and 11 really IS narrow right off the tee boxes, then it does widen up a bit, so by all means, narrow it up again if you have to  8)

i started playing version .3 (or was it .4?)  last night but couldnt finish, i'll check out .5 this afternoon. thanks for keeping this updated and looking for opinions. i also think the tees on 7 were messed up as well.  but yeah, you're doing great!

Published as AN143.8
Change log:
Massive, I think you will like this one.
Grass mowed, ferns plants etc nuked.
Fairway edging
Rough edging and trimmed and deep rough mostly nuked.
Since we are getting to closer to full release new lighting has been applied.
Trees trimmed.

I'm asking as nice as I can if you all can play this version, let me know your thoughts, this is about to go live and I will not bother you further.

I thank all who have played earlier versions and given their input and put up with my nagging and constant changes. This version is the result of your suggestions and I thank you from the bottom of my heart, this course is as much yours as it is mine.

I promise you, you will not recognise this version from any of the earlier versions.

I thoroughly hope you enjoy.

Pretty good!

I've never been to Augusta. I've only played the TW version.

This version obviously looks a little different. However, it plays well. I can see where this course matches up with the TW course. When HB gives us the tools someday this will be a lot closer to looking like on TV.

My putting sucks so I can't tell you about the green speeds but the slopes are pretty close to TW.

Keep in mind I'm not trying to get you to re-create the TW version it's just that TW is all I know so I compare your's to EA's. sorry.

Just played vers7. on PS4 enjoyed it a great deal. Not able to compare as far as likeness, but this is a fantastic course in its own right. I am not of a sufficiently high standard to tame this beast but I will definitely be back to try. Excellent work, as for tweaking so many times, I doff my flat cap to you my friend, your endeavours are much appreciated, by mii. :-)

Published as AN143.8

More modifications.

More planting removed
Deep rough scaled back even further
7 fairway re-sculpted
Added a little more undulation to some greens.

Lighting seems to change from designer to published version, as well some holes seem to flatten out, not sure if others experience this or not.

I read Scott's buying tickets to AN for everyone!  WTG Scott!  ;D

I wish, I am fortunate enough to be a PGA member so I did have to worry about the lottery, I tried the lottery and never got tickets
