Resizable plot

What about the ability to cut off unneeded parts of the plot to improve performance?

Seems logical and probably a good idea. But to my knowledge when you play a game and objects are out of view, your video card doesn't actually 'draw' them until you are going to see said objects. Does that make sense? I used to play the original Call of Duty games for the PC (totally different I know) and I was a map builder. One would have to make use of portal brushes to tell the game when to draw stuff and when not to, ultimately helping performance on your map and trust me I played some poorly made ones that ran terribly. Obviously those brushes don't exist here but I wonder if the game is built that way anyhow and it gets taken care of in the background.

Yes but as your ball travels more of the back ground comes into view.
