Theme - Boreal or Countryside (you choose)
Holes - full 18
Par - 70-72 or 54 only
Type - Imaginary (no real course renditions) (this also does not mean fantasy, trying for a realistic look)
Entry Deadline - Jan 1st
Submission Deadline - February 1st

Judge - Me (tastegw)

Anyone can join in on this.

What I will be judging on:
- Playability of the entire course, including but not limited to:  Greens, Fairways, Rough, Bunkers, Terrain
- Course Beauty: how well it looks while you play it
- Realism: Could it be a real course or was the terrain shaped in ways that could never be real.
- Quality: Blending, Shaping, Routing, etc.
- Unorthodox methodology: Getting from point A to point B in a better manner by thinking outside the box (not going to give any tips on this, it is what it is)

Rules:
- Creation of the course can start no earlier than the original date and time of this post.  So in other words, you can't use any course(s) you have already started on. While I can't police this, I am advising honesty.
- Auto Generate Nothing, everything needs to be done from scratch.  (this excludes any auto generated plants such as trees and grasses, these objects are fine, this rule concerns the following:  Tee Boxes, Fairways, Rough, Greens, Bunkers)
- You may name your course anything you wish, there is no need to add any "cdc" or stuff to it.
- You may not have any other versions of your course published until after the judging is completed, failure to follow this rule will result in DQ. This means, no play test course, no remaking of an older course, etc etc.  This rule is only in place to ensure fairness for all.
- Post here that you will be entering the contest before Jan 1st 2015
- Post the name of your course here in this thread before Feb 1st 2015
- You may use and I encourage you to use a thread of your own in the "Works in Progress" section.  Post images and information about your course, maybe a video if you can.  This is not required, but it is advised, it will help generate some excitement for your course.
- Tee Boxes must use the "fairway" texture and not the "greens" texture, please read page 8 for explanation

Prize(s) - $50 goes to first place via paypal something along those lines
May have other prizes for 1st thru 3rd, or just first place, tbd.

Get creative, and bring your game to the next level.

Entry Deadline - Jan 1st

I'll take a shot. I have a Boreal course in mind that I've been thinking of, a variation of a course I created and nearly finished for Links 2003.

I'm not throwing my hat in the ring but I was jus curious what "blending" means in the context of GNCD.  Are we talking about the transition between the natural terrain and our added bits (heavy rough, bunkers, etc.)?  I keep seeing that term and want to make sure I understand what people are talking about.  Sorry for the minor derail.

I'd love too...but I've already got 3 projects working and I don't see any way to get this done by the deadline. I simply don't have enough free time to work on courses.

If that changes I'll let you know.

just texture blending, green to fairway to rough to heavy rough to vegetation.  what im looking for here, is how well its done to make it look natural and realistic.  What I dont want to see are rough lines that lead right into the edge of either a bunker, a green, a fairway or a patch of rough.  I am sure the more quality designers know what im talking about here.

@ the rest of you above, all that wanted in, are now in.  added to the list in the OP
