Just three miles outside of the town, Stratford-Upon-Avon Hotel & Resort boasts 54 holes
of top quality golf and award winning* hotel and spa facilities.
"I know a golf course where the wild thyme blows,
Where oxlips and the nodding violet grows,
Quite over-canopied with luscious woodbine,
With sweet musk-roses and with eglantine.
There sleeps Biggins sometime of the night,
Lull’d in these flowers with whiskey and delight;
And there the wasp stings his bare arse skin,
Numbed from the pain by the evening sin:
And with the juice of this I’ll streak his eyes,
And make him full of hateful fantasies.
Take thou some of it, and seek through this grove:
A drunk English gentleman is in love
With a disdainful horse: anoint his eyes;
But do it when the next thing he espies
May be the Drunk: thou shalt know the golfer
By the golfing garments he hath on.
Effect it with some care, that he may prove
More fond of golf than she upon her love:
And look thou meet me ere the first **** crow."
No one can be sure, as he is dead now, but it is rumoured that Shakespeare had the
Stratford-Upon-Avon Hotel & Resort in mind when he penned those famous lines (he later
altered them and added them to Midsummer Night's Dream, but most experts agree that the
earlier version was better.) If he did write it about this place then he nailed it. This
is a place where honeymooning couples, Japanese businessmen, drunken stag and hen dos,
celebrities and more all rub shoulders. Indeed, whether it be Class A hedonism or tranquil
relaxing, The Stratford-Upon-Avon has it all and more.
The lobby boasts the biggest indoor sea-water aquarium in the world, the highlight of which
is a 3 mile long giant squid.
