Played my first few rounds of live online play today and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised how brilliant the setup is. Thoroughly enjoyed my rounds. There were four people off my friends list and we were all in the PS4 party chat. Played ghost balls (not turn enabled) and it was simply a blast. Real time seeing the ghost balls flying....its brilliant. We all seemed to have very similar wind conditions . I don't see what the problem is with online play.....LOVE the system. I see no need for a lobby system. Why would you want to play against strangers when you can play with a group(s) off your friends list that you know and enjoy?
I encourage everyone to try it once, it may not be for you. My experience was so much better than I had ever imagined.

I agree with you that if you just play live ghost balls,  it plays great for the most part with the exception of seeing different outcomes to what really happened...  The real issue is for guys like myself who like to talk during the game with friends...   This is where you get into issues because you find out quickly that there is a delay that takes some of the excitement out of it... Also, by chatting you quickly realize what the golf club shows you of your opponents shot is most of the time wrong.   So if I make a hole in one,  my opponent might see it as missing the cup all together....

But I agree,  if you're just playing ghost balls without chatting then I'm sure you're loving it... Now I will say that if you're playing on the PS4 it might not suffer from the same problems that the PC game has but I would be surprised if it wasn't suffering from the same issues though...

Yeah - I noticed the constant showing "something that didn't happen" when my Uncle and I were live chatting - Odd for sure

On the flip side of that though Adx, if you have lots of friends like I do who are like minded,  it's incredibly fun to chat and play live rounds from time to time...  Of course,  you have to overlook all the many faults with the current system but it's better than nothing..   But I agree,  I don't want to chat or play with a stranger either...    I'm also pretty darn sure you have no desire to chat ever just based off the history of your comments  :)

Yep.
I played in a really cool rainstorm on PG yesterday.
ADX would have hated it.  It was totally awesome visually!

Since you don't want to play or chat with any of us you don't know, I'm surprised you seem to enjoy posting and talking with that same group of people here on the forums?
Seems odd

i chat with Reeb and some other guys that play mp - I don't walk to speak to them on a microphone... the entire idea of that is bizarre to me.

Which is the main reason I think Steam chat does a perfect job - its fast and does everything I'd want it to do.

Isn't not doing something because you hate the idea of playing in those conditions the same thing as hating it? (that'd be why you aren't doing it)

I'd say anyone who willingly sets out to play golf in rain has more issues than I do :)

video game golf is supposed to be for when real golf has rain lol

Couldn't disagree more (as you'd expect) with you ADX.
Video games are awesome for allowing you do things and go places you couldn't necessarily go in real life and/or allow you to experience things you couldn't reasonably do in real life.

That's why I love flight simulators and golf simulations -- They transport you to time and place whenever and however you'd like.  It's awesome!

ADX likes what he likes and he is very blunt about it..  Just like the times he said there is no room in the game for Tropical courses...   When he says things like that,   he means it, that is how he really feels...   He has a much different idea of what fun is in regards to a video game than I do,  but I respect his opinion or right to enjoy how he sees fit.

The more I've frequented these forums the more I noticed just how different we all are..  I consider myself a video golf fanatic who actually prefers video golf to real life golf...  I'm not a golf purist or someone who understands proper physics or things of that nature..     There are lots of folks who play The Golf Club who will never be pleased by a video golf game because they're searching for the holy grail of ultimate physics which we can most likely agree is very hard to acheive.     I guess I fall right there in the middle of wanting something with realism but also modern day options like skins, and lobby environments..   I swear for me TGC would be perfect if they had all the great modes from Tiger woods and a lobby that supported that...

If you ever leave the comfort of your home, you will meet strangers. :)  Part of the fun in golf is going to the first tee as a single and getting paired with complete strangers.

The other night, I joined a 3 some in the PG lobby.  We played the new course Conway Farms.  These guys were strangers to me.  After a couple of holes, it was apparent they were friendly and they were actually talking on Dan's Teamspeak server.  They invited me to join and it was a blast playing and chatting with them for the next 8 or so holes until it got real late and I had to bail.  A couple of them added me to their Steam friend's list and I now have two more PG friends.
