Ohh and if they ever do get a MP lobby they will have to figure out a way to let us compete on the same settings or use the HC system to make up for people that play on harder settings against people that don't.

why?

If you play the back tees against someone playing the middle tees there isn't an adjustment made that's your decision.  If you wanna play grids that's your decision not the person who wants the grids.

Now if you wanna make a match that is grids off that's ok as I see it but you can't penalize someone who wants to use the grids.

That's how the handicap system works today. If I play 20 rounds with no assist my handicap will reflect my ability with those settings and I should be able to play against someone that uses all assists and have a fair and close game.

But I would assume setting up an MP game would be like setting up a tourney now - so assists can be forced off.

Good point I did not think of it that way.

Yea that is what I meant they would need a way to make it clear what settings the game is set up for so people now what they are getting into. It would basically just be a like a 18 hole tourney but live.

Not sure why I keep talking about it though lol. Doubt we will see it anytime soon.

Hey ADX why would you care you are happy playing by yourself!

Played my first few rounds of live online play today and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised how brilliant the setup is. Thoroughly enjoyed my rounds. There were four people off my friends list and we were all in the PS4 party chat. Played ghost balls (not turn enabled) and it was simply a blast. Real time seeing the ghost balls flying....its brilliant. We all seemed to have very similar wind conditions . I don't see what the problem is with online play.....LOVE the system. I see no need for a lobby system. Why would you want to play against strangers when you can play with a group(s) off your friends list that you know and enjoy?
I encourage everyone to try it once, it may not be for you. My experience was so much better than I had ever imagined.

Bringing this one up from the dead...but it's a current topic around here.  I have to say one of my best friends is someone I met up with as a single at the local golf club not knowing anyone and we became friends.  A lobby of sorts or whatever HB is planning, something that you can meet/play against strangers is needed.  I spent the first two weeks building up my friends list...whom none of them I knew personally, just so I could begin to get social with this game.   So once I play with someone and enjoy the chat (if we can somewhere else) they will likely become a friend on my friends list!  Just sayin'

Had to look that one up...and...NO!  lol.  You've never went to the golf course without friends and got yourself on the list to be placed with an open group of 2-3?  This is the same idea here. :)

I don't have time to read this whole thread but if it has not been said I will like to ask you how you made your friends? Last time I checked all my friends at one time were strangers weather in real life or on my FL on XBL. So if we had a way to play random people we then could make more friends. I have actually met some of the people on my FL in real life. Even played golf with some them on couple of occasions.  Having a video game with no real MP in 2015 is very strange IMOP. Also end of the day if you don't want to play strangers then don't. But it should be a option for a golf game.

BTW we don't need a lobby. We just need a match making system. So you make a game with certain settings and just wait for someone to join. Very simplistic way of doing it.

Add an in-game text chat, even if it is just 10 or so random choices like "nice shot" and see if the players like it. I don't see why they would need to change much to do this, if a player leaves, then you can finish alone or quit and setup or join another match. This would work for many people, IMO. Allow up to 4 or so people to join and appear on the scorecards without the need for them to be on your friends list. I don't mind playing live ghost balls, but playing a ghost ball that is a year old with different winds is rather silly.
