There in lies the rub.
I've been scratching my head as well. I think there is something here for sure, it just may take a bit of massaging and a few minds to hash out.
The "court designer" could be the selling feature for TTC as well. Tennis clubs, much like golf courses have a certain cache or beauty to them that attract the eye. Giving the users the tools to create their very own centre court, court one, and outer courts, aside from the surface itself could be fulfilling on its own merit.
I suppose interchangeable assets from TGC such as clubhouses, trees, flowers, water, could be imported. However big ticket items such as mocapping and locations, which can give each club its own individual personality, i.e. Indoor facilities (arena setting), beach/tropical (Monaco, Acapulco), classic grass facilities (Newport, Eastbourne, London/Queens ), desert (Indian wells, Dubai) might be a bit of challenge. Themes issue to tackle?
The real challenge may come in the form of match making. How to tackle play between users if there are tournaments schedules on a global clock. Also maybe a random match generator?, Club members?
Other Ideas
- Night Tennis
- Tours and Tournaments could remain the intact from the TGC.
- By making each individual aspect of the game challenging yet rewarding to master (serving, volley, baseline) users can concentrate on developing their own unique play styles.
At the this point I am more or less just tossing out ideas. My thought is there might really be some solid footing here if HB decides to continue with this sandbox approach. Tennis might be a logical next step to continue further developing a type of brand.
