HB Studios creates great video games. We are an electronic entertainment company that specializes in creating console, handheld, PC, and iOS video games.
Founded in 2000 by Jeremy Wellard, HB Studios is headquartered in beautiful Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, Canada with roughly 80 very talented and hard working people on staff. The company has an excellent professional reputation throughout the industry and is very proud of the relationships it has established and maintained with key partners around the world. HB’s development processes are extremely effective enabling reliable delivery whilst maintaining a healthy work / life balance.
Community Development is also very important to the company. Scholarships are awarded to the local schools, school tours are a regular sight at our facility, annual donations are made to local charities, festivals and educational institutions plus there have been regular contributions to community projects such as the soccer fields at Parkview Education Centre in Bridgewater and the local Lunenburg High School. At the end of 2008 the HB Studios Sports Centre was opened in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia. HB was proud to contribute $250,000 to this fantastic community project.
HB Studios’ first release, Cricket 2002 for EA Sports on the PlayStation2, was released in December 2001. It became the #1 holiday release in Australia that year and reached #4 in the UK.
In 2003, Jeremy Wellard won the Ernst & Young Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year Award for Atlantic Canada.
Jeremy Wellard stepped down from his role as president in February 2015. The company is now led by CFO Craig Heffler, CEO James Seaboyer, and CTO David McFarland.
With the release of The Golf Club 2019 Featuring PGA TOUR in August 2018 and NBA LIVE 19 in September 2018, HB Studios has shipped over 50 titles selling more than 28 million units and contributed to 21 others.
